My public matrix instance can be registered on or federated with at ug24.co
- Federation is supported (you can join other public instances with my home server).
- Open signups.
- Encryption supported for all channels and spaces created. (The public landing chat and space do not have encryption enabled).
- Voice / Video chat is supported, as well as screen sharing.
If you do create an account on my home server, you will be placed into a landing chat #ug24:ug24.co. From there, I would recommend joining the public space #public:ug24.co, which is akin to a Discord server (space). Feel free to create spaces!
How to connect:
I personally prefer Schildi Chat which is a fork of the reference client, Element. It’s cross platform, but the UI tweaks seem more intuitive coming from Discord. Simply download to your desktop, or go through the browser. When creating an account, just ensure that your host account or home server is set to ug24.co, otherwise it will default to the public matrix.org server. I do not host a web client, so you must download a client and register, or use a public web client.
